CAARE Policy on Sexual Harassment and Gender Discrimination

CAARE is committed to providing a work environment that is free from harassment and discrimination.

We strive to treat workers fairly and to promote diversity within our organization and the animal rights movement.

CAARE does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, disability, national origin, genetic information, sex (including pregnancy), age, sexual orientation, gender (including gender identity and expression), marital status, veteran status, citizenship status or any other characteristic protected by law.

Furthermore, CAARE explicitly forbids any form of harassment based upon these legally protected characteristics. All employees and independent contractors are required to abide by this policy.

Sexual harassment is defined as unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors and other verbal or physical conduct that create an intimidating, hostile or offensive work environment.

This policy forbids harassment regardless of whether the offensive conduct is sexual in nature and regardless of whether it rises to the level of a legal violation. This policy applies equally when the harasser and the individual being harassed are of the same or are of different genders.

All reports of harassment will be promptly investigated, and corrective action will be taken, including discipline up to and including termination.

CAARE is committed to maintaining confidentiality to the extent possible, and to ensuring that no person reporting unlawful harassment will be adversely affected in employment or promotion within the organization.
