Support the COMPACT Act to prohibit the Department of Health and Human Services from funding experiments on dogs and cats

Dogs and cats are cherished companions who offer us unconditional love, loyalty and trust. They rely on us to protect them and keep them from harm. It’s time we ended their use in government-funded experiments, especially now that major federal agencies have clearly acknowledged the failure of animal research and implemented policies to transition toward modern, non-animal research methods.
We have a critical opportunity for change. Congressmembers Nicholas Langworthy (R-N.Y.) and Mark Pocan (D-Wis.) have introduced the bipartisan Companion Animal Protection Against Cruel Testing (COMPACT) Act (H.R. 10522).
The COMPACT Act would prohibit the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) from funding biomedical research on cats and dogs. HHS includes prominent research agencies like FDA, CDC and NIH – the world’s largest funder of biomedical research.
Beyond cutting funding, the bill ensures that dogs and cats currently in research facilities are rehomed, so they can live freely outside laboratory cages. This pivotal legislation also prohibits HHS from using federal funds to purchase, breed, transport, or house dogs and cats for biomedical experiments.
Together, we can help bring an end to the dark era of using beloved dogs and cats in outdated, painful experiments. Please contact your U.S. Representative today and urge them to co-sponsor H.R. 10522, the COMPACT Act!
